Elegant, enchanting and upbeat, this unusual work from Handel is one of the only times he specifically named and placed a dance form movement into the Opus 6 Concerto Grosso works. This is solid Baroque literature and very true to the original, including solos in keeping with the style.

One of the all-time favorites in string pedogogy literature, here is the “Bach Double” superbly arranged for string ensemble, retaining the original violin parts and now supported by well-scored ensemble parts (with optional keyboard). Dia de los Muertos is a festive piece depicting the Day of the Dead celebration that is observied in Mexico and other Latin American countries each year at the beginning of November. According to popular belief, on the Day of the Dead, the spirits of the dead return to commune with the living, and this celebration commemorates the deceased so they may rest in piece. Hal Leonard welcomes veteran teacher and composer Jon Ward Bauman with this impressive new work for string ensemble. The writing is bold and fresh, and while giving string orchestras something uniquely different.

Though the era has come and gone, tunes like 'Beautiful Dreamer' and 'My Old Kentucky Home' still strike a chord in the hearts of people that enjoy hearing a beautiful melody. Written with this in mind, Dreamer's Farewell, honours the simle, beautiful lines exemplified in Foster's Works. American Grade 3

The quirky, unique style of Danny Elfman's music has found its audience with his continuing success scoring Tim Burton's inventive films. Here is a medley of thematic highlights from one of the most popular Burton films, superbly arranged by Larry Moore.

This work can serve as ideal teaching material for orchestras to learn slow, sonorous and expressive playing, critical to string ensemble performance. As always, the parts have been well crafted for student players by veteran arranger Lloyd Conley.

Originally written with seven movements, An English Suite is well-known for its tuneful strains of folk-style melodies, brilliantly presented in the familiar English style of Elgar and Vaughan Williams. Here's a terrific suite arranged for school string ensembles by the original fiddler from the Broadway show, Herbert Baumel. Mr. Baumel's carefully crafted collection is presented in separate movements that can be performed in various combinations. Includes: Tradition, Anatevka, If I Were a Rich Man, Matchmaker, Sunrise, Sunset, and To Life.

Grand River Serenade was commissioned for the Lowell Valley Middle School Red Arrow Orchestra in Lowell, Michigan. The town of Lowell sits on the Grand River. The main theme and two variations are presented in the key of G major for full orchestra. The musical terms and rhythm patterns used in this piece are introduced in all beginning string method books making this a suitable selection for the final concert of the first year of string study.

This energetic new work is a musical depiction of the Seacoast Century, a 100 mile bike race along the New England coast. A programmatic work, descriptors are included for each part of the piece to engage students’ imagination and develop musicality. This is a great work to teach string crossings, legato and staccato bowing, dynamic contrasts, bow placement, lifts and retakes, double stops, divisi, balance and blend. An architectural design for a gate in massive Russian style was Modest Moussorgsky's inspiration for this wonderful piece from Pictures from An Exhibition. Released in 1975, the original included an orchestra of middle-eastern string players that created an unforgettable sound! Kashmir took everyone by surprise and elevated Led Zeppelin to the status of rock icons. Transcribed from the original, this piece includes all the classic riffs. Great as an opener or encore!

Bluegrass music is an important part of Kentucky’s rich musical heritage. Bluegrass musicians often participate in jam sessions where music is spontaneously created. “Kentucky Jam” brings to life the energy and excitement of a jam session in a written form.

This traditional sounding medley of original tunes set in the Irish style, tells the mysterious story of the fate of a group Irish immigrant railroad workers. A story telling piece, “The Legend of Duffy’s Cut” follows this group to America, their work building the railroads that drove our country’s expansion and their deaths under suspicious circumstances. To this day, there are reports of mysterious happenings at the site of the deaths, now known as Duffy’s Cut. From the sad and mournful “Duffy’s Lament” to the high energy “McCarrick’s Jig,” this piece is a real student and audience pleaser. All sections have an opportunity to play the melody.

Kiss The Girl; Part Of Your World; Under The Sea
