Made famous by John Coltrane, but treated here in a more traditional Afro-Latin style, this is something a little different for jazz ensemble. As with all Mossman charts, the rhythm section is meticulously notated to insure the correct style. The 3/4 pattern throughout draws heavily on African influences and the melody is masterfully passed from section to section. A single pentatonic scale works for the solo section making this a wonderful vehicle for involving many soloists.

This memorable hit recorded by Earth, Wind, & Fire provides some of the nicest harmonies in today's music. This outstanding ballad featuring Flugel and Alto Sax is the perfect addition to any program.

What a neat idea to turn this Henry Mancini classic into a medium samba groove! Your lead trombonist receives some well-deserved feature time and is joined briefly by the entire bone section. The movie “Soapdish” featured a soundtrack loaded with sultry mambo sounds. This lively tune from the movie is faithfully recreated by Roger Holmes and churns with Latin drive.
