The songo rhythm is most commonly heard in salsa music and employs lots of exciting syncopation supported by a repetitious, but always moving rhythm section background. The 2000 Olympics is still fresh in our minds along with the superb theme music from the games in Sydney, the inspirational Dare to Dream. Master arranger Dave Wolpe quickly put his musical thoughts to paper and created the jazz ensemble arrangement of Dare to Dream. Oliver Nelson's well-known jazz standard is now available in a more playable version for younger bands. Roger's adaptation opens with the original gospel style chorale then launches into a medium blues shuffle. What a gorgeous ballad. This wonderful Gershwin standard, recorded and performed countless times, is ideal for your students to play and learn. Chuck Mangione's huge hit arranged by Victor Lopez, Feels so Good features the Flugelhorn solo (on the 1st trumpet part) throughout with the distinctive melody and then a written out solo along with a written tenor sax solo. The flugelhorn solo range is up to written high C but the solo is cued on the 1st tenor part. A well-known and appealing tune that will be enjoyed by both the band and the audience. Duration: 6:36

As the title suggests, this engaging original has a gospel-inspired melody and chord changes. The saxophone section shares the limelight with trumpet and tenor saxophone soloists. The saxophones are required to be aggressive on the soli passages, while the rest of the band demonstrates a variety of textures and dynamic levels. While precision and blend are teaching points here, another valuable opportunity is given to the soloists.
