Mr. T. and company ruled the TV airwaves in the '80s, along with their equally famous theme song. A great way to pump up the crowd and fire up your own “A” team. Please note: This is a marching band arrangement, which we have included as it is the only version we have been able to find of this popular title. There are no double reed parts and some unusual percussion requirements. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or if you would like to see a score on approval.

Thanks to director Tim Burton and actor Johnny Depp, the recent movie Alice in Wonderland shows a new side to this classic tale. Equally distinctive is Danny Elfman's dark and delightful musical score. Michael Brown's well-paced medley features the recurring melody “Alice's Theme” along with other important themes from the film. Sure to please!

Originally scored for brass choir, composer John Stevens brings us this marvelous version for full band featuring flowing melodies and counterlines in a rich chorale-like setting. The solo part at the beginning and end is scored for euphonium, but is cued for clarinet, trumpet or trombone. Great for teaching a lyric style of playing, and also as an effective performance piece. Recorded by renowned vocal group Celtic Woman on the CD A New Journey, this beautiful ballad features a haunting melody and rich harmonies. Sean O'Loughlin brings us a moving adaptation for band with a nice variety in scoring and emotional pacing

The Choral Fantasy varies from the Choral Prelude in that it is much freer in form and style. This number opens with a variation of the fanfare that has been traditionally inserted as an introduction and interlude between stanzas. The chorale is then presented in a traditional harmonization by the full band. The second section is in a faster tempo, and is based on statements of the opening motive of the hymn presented in fugal style

Canadian Folk Trilogy offers a refreshing setting of three popular Canadian Folk songs. Kicking things off is an enjoyable adaptation of “Donkey Riding.” Singing this tune helped sailors to pass the time as they used the donkey engine to load timber onto the decks of ships in Canadian ports. “Inuit Lullaby” slows the pace with a simple but beautiful melody set in three bar phrases. Finally, we conclude with a rollicking version of “I's the B'y (I’m the Boy), a traditional Newfoundland folk song.

Inspired by the many hardships of the Irish immigrants, this piece brings hope of a new world, a new lease on life and a second chance. The piece begins with the sound of the ocean in the background (played by the ocean drum) while a solo flute plays the main theme. As the piece develops the theme represents several scenes: first, the knowledge that life needs to change due to the famine and hardships of the time; second, the immigrants begin their move to America; third, the arrival in America and seeing the statue of Liberty, which is the climactic moment of the piece; and finally, ending with the same idea in the beginning of the piece but now as memory and longing for Ireland.

Written in overture form, the piece draws its inspiration from dance movements found in contemporary stage, ballet and theatrical productions. The piece opens with fast-paced angular gestures accompanied by rapid rhythmical punctuations before yielding to a contrasting lyrical section with long, flowing lines and many opportunities for expressive playing. The infectious beat patterns and memorable melodic content combine to make this an excellent concert opener.

Philip Sparke published a book of etudes, Super Solos in 2008, the third volume in a series flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, horn, trombone and euphoniu. A young German Flutist was so excited by these pieces that his father secretly comissioned an arrangement of three of the etudes. The result is this mini-concerto, containing Little Overture, Berceuse and Molto Perpetuo. Duration: 7:05

Tchaikovsky's musical progress was based upon impulse, rather than upon intellectual conviction. It was his sincere response to emotional impulse and the freedom with which he ranged over almost every field of musical creation which made him as great as he was. Frank Erickson passed away before he could provide rehearsal suggestions for this piece. This was one of his final numbers.

Written by Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen back in the '80s, this powerful song has reached almost legendary status with its frequent usage in TV and movies. Recorded by such diverse artists as Bob Dylan, Bon Jovi and Justin Timberlake, it was also used in the first Shrek movie and most recently during the 2010 Winter Olympics opening ceremony in Vancouver. Here is a terrific setting for band by Michael Brown.

Recommended! Alfred Reed (1921-2005) was one of America's most prolific and frequently performed composers. The Hounds of Spring was composed in 1980 and was inspired by the poem “Atalanta in Calydon” by Algernon Charles Swinburne. In this concert overture, Reed captures the elements of youthful exuberance and tenderness of love expressed in the poem. Remaining true in form and intent to the original, Robert Longfield has masterfully shortened and adapted this work for younger bands. Duration: 5:30

A Jamestown Trilogy is a three-movement suite inspired by the story of Captain John Smith and his crew, who sailed from England on December 20, 1606 in three small ships, the Discovery, Susan Constant and Godspeed. They first landed at Cape Henry on April 26, 1607 and then sailed up the James River where, on May 14, 1607, they landed on a site they named Jamestown. In 1608, Smith was captured by the Powhatan Indians. Legend has it that he was considered a threat to the Indians because of his interest in metals and in searching for a waterway west. Smith was sentenced to death and placed on a stone alter to be killed when a twelve year old Indian Princess rescued him. Matoaka, nicknamed Pocahontas (Playful One), the daughter of Powhatan, chief of the confederacy, threw her body across Smith’s and saved his life.

Including the popular swing hits Flip, Flop and Fly; Rock This Town and Jump, Jive and Wail, here is an entertaining medley for band that will have everyone dancing in the aisles. Paul Murtha has skillfully adapted this fun, jazzy style for the concert stage.

Magic Valley is based on an original melody in the style of a hymn tune, first presented simply, then developed over the course of the piece to a stirring, majestic climax. The hymn tune and its treatment reflect the beautiful landscape, remarkable people and faith-inspiring creation of South Central Idaho.

This uniquely constructed work was commissioned by the 2008 South Carolina High School All-State Band and consists of a series of gorgeous melodic textures surrounding one ever-present note. The listener hears this note briefly in the beginning and the end, but it is skillfully hidden in between. From lush soft passages to crescendos that leave your audience breathless, this composition will provide you and your ensemble with an unforgettable musical experience! Duration: 5:00

Rampage! is a relentless, aggressive work that requires wind players and percussionists alike to play with both a great deal of force and finesse. Strong statements in the brass, the interwoven woodwind parts, and a contrasting introspective section provide numerous opportunities for expression and nuance. Ranges are comfortable, allowing players to concentrate on the technique and articulations that will make this piece virtually leap off of the page

Following a gentle, lyric fanfare at the opening, each section begins in a quiet way, gradually growing toward maturity, and isn't thus true of life itself? It is also hoped that other inflections of these thoughts and ideas will come to life through the music.

Due for publication August 2010. Recorded by Earth, Wind & Fire and often heard in TV and films, this classic funk tune from the '70s is a sure way to pump some energy into your next program. The melody is skillfully passed from section to section, making this a fun arrangement for everyone to play and enjoy.

Using a recurring four-note motif and a variety of textural punctuations, here is a stunning and fresh-sounding overture from Richard Saucedo. A slow and lyric middle section featuring woodwind colors and rich emotional contours provides a stark contrast to the rhythmic intensity of the opening and closing sections. Dramatic and powerful! Spirited indeed, this Ralph Ford original overture provides ample opportunity to showcase every member of your ensemble. Opening with a broad and building fanfare, the work bursts with energy featuring a charismatic rhythmic foundation that sets the stage for several soloist statements. The work builds to a frenzy and develops quietly and reflectively to a dramatic, grandiose conclusion. Diverse and endearing, this is an outstanding choice for concert and contest alike!

A Winter's Tale does not contain any references to Christmas, so it is perfect for any kind of holiday concert as well as other events held throughout the winter eason. The music describeds the wintry landscape in the country, a quiet sunset and fiels and forests covered with snow. Sleigh bells can be heard somewhere off in the distance and a horse-drawn troika draws near before the music settles down with the countryside again. Duration: 7:05
