Sub-titled New Orleans, this suite sets out to recreate musically the joy of living that exists in the ‘deep south’ city nicknamed the ‘Big Easy’. The four movements are: ‘Mississippi Rag’ echoing the wonderful music of Scott Joplin. ‘Satchmo!’ which is a salute to the great Louis Armstrong. ‘Bourbon Street Blues’ a gentle interlude, nothing to do but relax. Finally ‘Mardi Gras’ a time for the city to erupt into colour, music and dance. Fun to play and fun to listen to! Performance time 6’51”

Darrol Barry’s name will be familiar to all who are involved with Grade 2 bands. His contributions to the Prelude Series have firmly established him in this field writing works of great melodic and rhythmic interest. This new suite is no exception! The three movements are: 1. This work tells the story of a handful of events that took place at Richmond Palace, just outside London during the reigns of the tudor Monarchs when this historic town was founded 5000 years ago. The four movements are: 1. Arrival of an Emperor 2. A Dance With the Duke 3. The Queen’s Garden 4. By River, to Whitehall. Performance time 7’20”
