In a joyous fanfare format, Michael Story has recrafted I Saw Three Ships to boldly open your band's first Christmas concert. With solid tutti scoring, this setting builds to a dramatic conclusion that will make your band sound huge!

Based on the Latin text Veni, Veni, Emmanuel, the lyrics for the popular carol O Come, O Come Emmanuel were written by John M. Neale in the mid 1800s. A wonderful setting to reinforce phrasing and musicality, Michael Story’s stirring setting will warm the hearts of your students and audiences alike.

The original work, scored for unaccompanied choir, was an inspired effort by Ukraine-born composer and educator Mykola Dmytrovych Leontovych. Douglas Wagner’s new setting, as the title implies, features your clarinetists giving them a left-handed Christmas workout. Very comfortable for the whole band and right in the pocket for the clarinet section.

This reworked classic, based on God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, is intertwined with repetitive fundamental rhythmic figures. It is accessible by every beginning band in the winter of their first year. Use this piece for your christmas performance after only a few months of instruction.

This arrangement showcases two beautiful English carols in an easy-to-play arrangement for your young band. In the Bleak Midwinter, a tune written by Gustav Holst, begins this medley in classic style. Opportunities abound for working on legato phrasing. The lively traditional carol The Holly and the Ivy follows in 3/4 time to bring this work to an engaging close.
